Was a guest on Funmi Iyanda's television programme, "New Dawn", today to discuss sundry matters. Funmi's gotten more than her fair share of hate from the psychos that infiltrate the virtual world but she gave great suggestions off-screen as to handling this strange band.

It's Funmilola's birthday today, Friday the 27th, and I wish my lovely friend much more of the best life has to give.

Then met with the Orange Prize winner, Chimamanda Adichie, after the recording and I was star-struck. It had been a while between meetings, and for someone so young, she's achieved plenty. She's a great example of the rewards of industry.

I say to the comment above....if you pay much attention to the nut jobs..it'll bother you. My best advice....exercise your right to delete....

I am glad at what Chimamanda has achieved. We need more like her. Have you met Seffi Atta yet? You should read her book..."Everything Good will Come". Helen Oyeyemi and Tolulope Ogunlesi are some other fine younbg writers.

Enjoy the weekend...

You are quite the star now. I read a write-up of the Season of WS in today's Business Day. And also on TV! Pity I probably won't be able to watch it.

Will see you on Sunday though.

@ anon- Its ok. Someday, I'll do an intro. Funmi's easy to get on with.

@ anon (noni)- The right to delete is a powerful one. No, I haven't met Sefi Atta yet but her book is one of my most prized possessions. Extraordinary. As for Helen Oyeyemi's "Icarus Girl"? Sublime. I'm in touch with Tolu Ogunlesi though.

@ nyemoni- long time, 'moni. Come to the show on Sunday, now, abeg. Went rocking the town last night with funmi to celebrate her birthday, it was great fun.

@ jumi- you seem to know funmi well. She's a fearsome woman to cross. Lagos has simple pleasures and great fun if you're in the right company. I promise when you come, I'll get you to roll with funmi 1ce or 2ce.

@ uzo- I know what you mean, I think its the eyes...the way she looks at you and the things she says.

@ catwalq- sat grinning for a while when I read your comment. Go restructure those fantasies. You'll meet everyone, though. The Arts/Culture circuit is one where everyone knows the other or knows someone who knows the other.

@ Ore- lol @ "quite the star". I always was, you just didn't pass by my firmament, hehehe. See the paper you read se'f, Ore, "Business Day", you're such a serious female.
It'll be lovely to see you on Sunday.

@Las: The first anon was I. Don't know Funmi and her work. I was talking about Chimamanda. And I was talking about getting something published as she has, as opposed to meeting her.

Ide.
